Talented author George R.R. Martin is in the news this week as Game of Thrones offers up even more good news for the visionary fantasy writer. As fans of the stunning HBO drama know, the Song of Ice and Fire series is the brainchild of Martin. According to the LA Times, is has been made official by bookseller, Amazon, that George R.R. Martin is now only the 10th author ever to sell 1 million Kindle e-books. Yowza!
If you’ve been wanting to dig into the meaty series yourself, you’ll be buying five books. They are: A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, A Feast for Crows, and A Dance with Dragons. That last book was only just released back in July and received with a debuting at #2 on the Amazon best sales list. It spent five weeks as a No. 1 LA Times bestseller, too.
Here’s a fun factoid. Stephenie Meyer’s Twilight series was among the first five to snag 500,000 Kindle ebook sales. And did you know Martin was a writer for the original Beauty and the Beast tv series? Or that a reboot is currently in the works? Fun stuff!
