Katie LeClerc for Raj in Big Bang Theory Season 5

The Big Bang Theory CBS

Katie Leclerc, who stars on ABC Family’s Swithed at Birth, is guest starring in the fifth season of The Big Bang Theory as a potential love interest for… Raj! In the big scheme of the series, Raj (Kunal Nayyar) has always drawn the short stick when it comes to love on the hit CBS sitcom. All of his friends have found it in some way. Howard (Simon Helberg) is getting married; Sheldon (Jim Parsons) has a bizarre companion ship with Amy Farrah Fowler; and Leonard (Johnny Galecki) has two women pining after his affections. Poor Raj can’t even talk to women unless he’s drunk.

But The Big Bang Theory has come up with a nifty little loophole that could end with Raj happily united with a woman. Leclerc will play Emily, a deaf friend of Penny’s, in the fourth episode of the new season. Raj doesn’t even need to talk to her, because she can’t hear him. It’s perfect. As long as he can do sign language, there shouldn’t be a problem. The two will hit it off, but we don’t yet know if it will be a lasting thing. I hope it is, as Raj needs someone to help him deal with sleeping with Penny (Kaley Cuoco.

The series returns Sept. 22 with two back-to-back episodes. The first is called “The Skank Reflex Analysis” so you just know it will deal with the Penny/Raj hook up. The second is “The Infestation Hypothesis” and will see Leonard trying to spice up his long distance relationship with Priya (Aarti Mann).
