Modern Family Season 3 Gets Crossed Up

David Cross Modern Family ABC

David Cross, who can find the funny in just about any role, will be taking on Claire during Season 3 of Modern Family.

Cross, who you might recognize as Tobias Funke from Arrested Development or Dr. Andy Weeks on Running Wilde, is joining the ABC comedy in a recurring role as Duane, a city councilman that goes toe-to-toe with Claire (Julie Bowen), according to the latest from The Hollywood Reporter. The battle lines will be drawn when Claire decides to take on city hall as a result of getting involved in community affairs.

There isn’t any more insight given on the character at this time, but this is David Cross as a city councilman. Is there any doubt in anyone’s mind about this particular government official delivering the laughs with a truck-load of attitude?

Modern Family, along with Ed O’Neill, who is probably still celebrating his shiny, new star on The Hollywood Walk of Fame, returns to ABC with Season 3 on Wednesday, September 21st. Hopefully Cross’ character will hang around long enough to satisfy everyone that is still patiently waiting for him to reprise the role of Tobias Funke in the Arrested Development movie that will hopefully come about sometime in our lifetime.
