NEW GIRL Zooey Deschanel joined by Childrens Hospital and American Pie Girls

Fox’s freshman comedy, Zooey Deschanel’s New Girl, is bringing some very funny ladies from the likes of Children’s Hospital and American Pie to guest star in upcoming episodes. And they are… drum roll please… Lake Bell and Natasha Lyonne! Thus far, New Girl is shaping up to be the best new comedy series this fall (not that it’s had much competition) and the addition of Bell and Lyonne should make for some fantastic half-hours of laughs.

According to TVLine, Lyonne (American Pie) plays a wedding guest Schmidt cannot stand to be around, yet inevitably ends up sleeping with her every time they meet. I wonder what’s so bad about her to cause his dislike, but isn’t so bad that will deter him from sleeping with her. They probably have extremely angry hate sex. Which means it’s probably really good sex. As for Bell (Children’s Hospital) , co-star Max Greenfield says she “comes on in Episode 3 and plays a potential love interest for Jake Johnson’s character Nick.” Unfortunately, nothing else is said about what her character will be like.

Other upcoming guest stars include Justin Long and Katie Casside. Cassidy in particular plays a woman who Greenfield’s character, Schmidt, is in love him. “I don’t know if she’s interested in loving me back,” he points out. “She’s someone that I’ve known and that I’m slightly obsessed with.” That’s interesting, because so far Schmidt has been portrayed as a womanizing douche bag, so it’s hard to imagine him being in love. However, his character is pretty shallow, so creating a more three dimensional person is the right move.
