Slutty Pumpkin Cruises into HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER

It’s taken the show a very long time, but in an October episode of How I Met Your Mother we are finally going to meet the mother! Just kidding, we’re going to find out the identity of the Slutty Pumpkin. If you’ve been watching the show as long as I have, you’ll remember the 2005 Halloween episode where Ted introduces the audience to the mysterious Slutty Pumpkin, a girl he met at a Halloween party and hit it off with. Disaster struck however and Ted lost her number, and hasn’t seen her since.

And that’s all about to change! According to Vulture, this year’s Halloween episode will feature Katie Holmes as the Slutty Pumpkin. It’s a huge honor and she had better play the role with respect. Craig Thomas, one of the creators of the show, is super stoked to finally be able to reveal the Pumpkin’s identity and just as excited to have Holmes play the part. “Katie is a lovely and talented actress, which is why we’ve saved for her perhaps the most classily named character in our show’s history,” Thomas says before adding the role has been “literally six seasons in the making.”

I had my fingers crossed we’d meet her last season, but instead we got a terrible episode involving Randy. Hopefully this year’s episode will be better. HIMYM seems to be revisiting a lot of Season 1 material, bringing back Victoria, romantic Ted, and now the Slutty Pumpkin. It will be one nostalgic season to say the least.
