Denise Richards and James Marsden hit 30 Rock

Two big names in Hollywood are coming to 30 Rock, and I mean big. One of them was the wife of an actor who recently had a mental breakdown and was fired from his sitcom, while the other usually plays men who can’t seem to get the girl. By now you should have Google searched and found out I’m talking about Denise Richards and James Marsden. And you know what else? I have no idea who they will be playing! Those are my favorite kind of casting announcements.

If you happen to follow her on Twitter, you would have seen Richards’ post. “So excited!!” tweeted Richards. “I’m going to be doing an episode of #30Rock! one of my favorite shows!!!!!” I personally hope she has some kind of one night stand with Jack (Alec Baldwin). Scratch that. She should play an evil one-night stand. Richards has always had a kind of mean girl face, making her a perfect candidate to play a girl Jack becomes involved with and then turns out be insane. It’s an unlikely circumstance, with Jack looking after his daughter while Avery is held captive in North Korea, but it would be fun.

Marsden has a more significant role. He’ll be around for six episodes, and that’s all we get to chew on for the time being. The part reeks of romance however. You put an attractive guy on a show about a single woman desperately trying to find companionship and you just feel it in your bones that Liz (Tina Fey) will jump him the first chance she gets. But hey, I could be wrong and he’s just some accountant who has to bail TGS out of the toilet. Anything can happen on 30 Rock.
