Emma Watson, Radcliffe, Rupert – WHEN HARRY LEFT HOGWARTS trailer

After ten years and eight films, the adventures of Harry Potter have come to an end, but that doesn’t mean the story is completely over. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 arrives on DVD and Blu-ray next month, and we have a sneak peek of the 48-minute documentary, When Harry Left Hogwarts, which will be packaged with it.
The preview sets the tone for the documentary early on, as the guy behind the camera goes around asking some of the cast what they think the documentary should be about. Gary Oldman, who plays Sirius Black, sums it up perfectly when he says some talent would be nice because “most of these things are awful.”
While we don’t get to find out Oldman’s opinion of the final product, I think When Harry Left Hogwarts does a nice job of avoiding being awful… at least from what I can see in the trailer.
In addition to some behind-the-scene looks at filming, we’re treated to Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson revealing some of the fears that are associated with playing such iconic characters. Will the curse of many child actors follow them? Is Radcliffe so strongly associated with Harry Potter that movie-going audiences won’t accept him in anything else? Valid fears when you consider the statement that one person makes on camera – Radcliffe has been the only Harry Potter. Unlike Batman and James Bond, there have been no other faces bearing that familiar lightning bolt scar.
Fans of Ron Weasley might feel a little left out because Rupert Grint doesn’t get a lot of screen time in the preview, but hopefully he’ll be showing up more in the actual documentary.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 arrives on DVD and Blu-ray on November 11th in the U.S. and on December 2nd in the U.K.
