Emma Watson in THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER Teasers

As the new teaser pics for The Perks of Being a Wallflower reveal, Emma Watson is going back to school on the big screen, but the actress won’t be confusing this place for Hogwarts anytime soon.
After spending a decade in the magical world created by J.K. Rowling, Watson’s feet are firmly planted in reality in this new drama based on the Stephen Chbosky novel by the same name. In Perks, Watson plays Sam, the girl who becomes the object of affection for high-school freshman Charlie (Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief’s Logan Lerman), who happens to be the ‘wallflower’ mentioned in the title.

In addition to dealing with all the drama that goes along with first love, Charlie is also having to deal with his best friend’s suicide and his own mental illness. In other words, The Perks of Being a Wallflower doesn’t give the impression of being a ‘feel-happy’ type of movie, but judging from the title, there has to be something positive going on.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower is being directed by the author of the book and also stars Mae Whitman (Parenthood), Johnny Simmons (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World), Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries), Ezra Miller (We Need to Talk about Kevin), and Dylan McDermott (American Horror Story). An official release date hasn’t been mentioned yet but the film is expected to show up in theaters in 2012.
