Jason Statham Denies Robot Crushing in TRANSFORMERS 4

Jason Statham Transformers

There have been rumors floating around recently about action star Jason Statham taking over the lead in the Transformers franchise now that Shia LaBeouf’s Sam Witwicky will no longer be the ally of the Autobots. Unfortunately, someone forgot to actually tell Statham the news.

Statham, who has carved out a niche as a bad-ass tough guy in franchises like Crank and The Transporter, might actually be a good fit for helping Optimus Prime fight the evil Decepticons, but a recent interview with MTV reveals that Statham is just as surprised with the news as the rest of the Web-surfing community.

“You know, I don’t know how those things start. You read them. Someone told me about it. [But] the internet is a dangerous place,” Statham says. “There’s a lot of stuff out there.”

Of course, that doesn’t mean Statham isn’t intrigued by the idea of taking over the reins of the blockbuster franchise. While stating that he has a lot of stuff lined up, he admits that “Michael Bay is a talented man,” although he stops short of actually saying he’s interested in starring in the next two Transformers films.

Personally, I’d like to see them shake things up by bringing in an older guy like Statham or putting a woman in the lead role, anything but another young guy that would basically be a bargain-basement version of LaBeouf.
