Mandy Moore Coming Back to TV in US AND THEM

Actress and singer Mandy Moore is making her way back to TV in a new sitcom for ABC called Us and Them. Moore has done plenty of guest starring roles (the most recent of which was on fellow ABC series, Grey’s Anatomy), but this is her first time in a major starring role. Us and Them is a single-camera family comedy about the conflicts between the family you grow up with and the family you make as an adult. I can definitely see the humor in the premise (from my own personal experience), but I can also see many opportunities for a show like this to take a walk on a more serious side.

Us and Them is told through the perspective of newlyweds Annie (Moore) and Ben. ABC has given the series a pilot commitment with Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements as executive producers along with Bob Fisher who is writing the script. Jon Leshay (whom Moore has worked with before as a music supervisor) will produce, with Shawn Levy directing as well as exec producing.

With Moore having starred in many films, it’s a no brainer she’d be able to carry the weight of a TV sitcom on her shoulders. If you can sell a movie you can sell TV, evidenced by Zooey Deschanel’s success in Fox’s New Girl. Now the show just needs to find the rest of its cast. I’ll be keeping my out on this one.
