NEW GIRL Zooey Deschanel Joined by Rachael Harris

There’s a new girl on New Girl (sorry; couldn’t resist) as actress and comedienne Rachael Harris joins Zooey Deschanel on the new Fox comedy. Harris, who has previously appeared in The Hangover, Friends, and Notes from the Underbelly, will be joining New Girl as quirky vice principal Tanya, a potentially recurring character that loans Jess (Deschanel) a bus for Schmidt’s birthday bash. However, it’s not a completely selfless favor because Tanya will only do it if she’s allowed to hang out with them. According to EW, Harris will make her first appearance later this season, although a specific air date isn’t known at this time.

While Harris’ visit will no doubt liven things up a bit, fans of New Girl will have to wait a little while longer before following the adventures and misadventures of Deschanel because the show’s next new episode won’t air until November 1st, thanks to The X Factor taking up the timeslot with two weeks of two-hour episodes instead of the regular 90-minute shows.

I don’t know about you, but if I had a choice between more Zooey Deschanel or more Simon Cowell, I’d choose Zooey every time. Unfortunately, Fox didn’t bother to check with me so more Simon it is.
