ONCE UPON A TIME with Emma Caulfield

It hasn’t even premiered yet, but ABC’s Once Upon a Time is already filled to the rim with guest stars and has added yet another; Emma Caulfield. Her casting is special in that she’s worked with some of the crew in the past. Before this, Caulfield worked with consulting producer Liz Tigelaar on Life Unexpected and with co-executive producer of Jane Espenson on Buffy. Given the supernatural nature of Once Upon a Time, Caulfield should feel right at home.

The news broke over Caulfield’s Twitter on Monday that she would be flying to Vancouver to shoot her episode. She will be playing the role of the Blind Witch from the Hanzel and Gretel story. We’ll have to wait several weeks before we get to see her in action; her episode will be the ninth aired. The series doesn’t premiere until October 23^rd, so we’ll finally get to see Caulfield in December.

Given that this series has two realities, our world and the fairy tale world, I’m wondering if the Blind Witch will have two forms like some of the other characters have. Part of the fun of the series seems to be seeing the imprisoned fairy tale characters compared to their old selves. What would the Blind Witch’s normal form be like? Is she still blind even? Would she still have a house made of delicious candy to lure children? I would love it if she owned a candy shop of some kind. That’s a great front for murder right there.
