Rose Leslie Speaks on GAME OF THRONES Ygritte Role

During an interview taking place at the Perfect Sense UK premiere, actress Rose Leslie spoke about her upcoming role as Ygritte on HBO’s Game of Thrones. At the time the interview was taken she had yet to begin filming, but is heading to Iceland to start shooting in a couple of weeks. Leslie confirms that she will be in both Seasons 2 and 3. Her character, the fiery Ygritte, is a Wilding from north of the Wall. Leslie is most looking forward to doing any and all physical work, and talks about her humble beginnings of training, consisting of merely running on a treadmill with in the incline cranked up.
When asked who her favorite character in the books is she at first mentions being a fan of Robert Baratheon in the first book and of the Night’s Watch as a whole before landing on the evil Cersei Lannister. That’s a pretty odd choice for a favorite. I myself can’t stand her, as is my usual disposition toward wicked people. Thankfully she says she can relate to Ygritte, and not Cersei. That would be strange if you could relate to that twisted person.
Having begun reading the books, Leslie was able to divulge that Game of Thrones Season 2 was keeping very close to the book, A Clash of Kings. This is a big thing for fans of the books and is something of a rarity when it comes to adaptations. It seems like Season 2 will be just as excellent as Season 1.
