Studio Ghibli and Level 5′s Fantasy RPG NI NO KUNI

If Manga-style RPG’s are your thing, then you’ll want to check out the new trailer for Studio Ghibli and Level 5′s PlayStation 3 version of Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch, which includes a pretty good soundtrack provided by the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch follows a young boy named Oliver as he searches Ni No Kuni (Another Reality) for his mother so that she can be revived. Joining Oliver on his quest are Maru and Jack. Other characters include lamp monster Shizuku, fat cat king Nyandaru, Kaura the elf/bull lady, and a ghost girl named Kokoru.
The trailer provides an animated story that sets up the game, although you’re on your own with translations because the text and narration are in Japanese. In addition to the story, there are also a few good peeks at the game which reveal a slot machine mini-game and the “Pot Synthesizer,” a genie that lives in a pot and combines things for you. There are also zombie pirates, dragons, and a Boss that looks a lot like the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland.
In addition to the large cast of characters, the clip also provides a great look at some of the environments. I don’t know if we’re seeing all the levels in the preview, but some of the scenes include both urban and rural settings, as well as volcanic, desert, and mountain terrains.
Check out the video to get a look at Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch but don’t get too excited just yet. The game is scheduled for release next year, but a specific date hasn’t been mentioned yet.
