SUPERNATURAL Break for Misha Collins’ Castiel

Supernatural CW

If you were looking forward to seeing Misha Collins‘ Castiel return in the next couple episodes of Supernatural, you may have to wait a little longer. During this week’s first Supernatural Convention in Toronto, Collins wowed audiences with hilarious stories and a reading of Go the F**k to Sleep, before giving some rather disheartening news. Don’t expect to see him until at least episode 10 of Season 7. Episode 9 is currently being filmed and Collins confirms he has not filmed any scenes since his “death” in episode 2 (you can follow some of this news on twitter via the #TORCON hashtag).

However, he will return. That is fact. The question is, “In what condition will he return?” When Collins’ Castiel was last seen, Leviathans, who claimed to have killed Cas, overran his body. They took his body and dispersed into a public water supply. So when we see him, will Cas indeed be dead? Will the body still be Leviathan invested? Or maybe, just maybe, we’ll get a final glimpse of our favorite angel before he says goodbye for real.

The angel storyline has been going on long enough that I’m ready to say goodbye to Cas. He’s been a great character who has gone down some seriously dark paths these last couple years. Yet I think he’s been played out. There’s not much left for him to do. At best he should be given a quick moment to redeem himself a little better before exploding in blinding white light, leaving behind only his empty vessel and black wing markings in the ground. That would be a fitting end for Castiel.
