Tarantino’s DJANGO UNCHAINED Lands Female Lead

Director Quentin Tarantino has a very special mission for actress Kerry Washington, should she choose to accept it. Read on because this movie update will NOT self-destruct.
The quirky, cool director of such pop culture phenomenons as Desperado, Pulp fiction, Kill Bill and Inglourious Basterds is developing a brand new project called Django Unchained. Will it be off the chain? Well, it will feature Kerry Washington in a key role. You may remember her from roles in Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Fantastic Four, Lakeview Terrace and For Colored Girls. No doubt Mr. Tarantino has his pick of lovely and strong women for this role, so Washington should be on cloud nine. She’ll act as the character called Broomhilda. Gosh, that’s not a very flattering name.
So, who is Broomhilda? Deadline revealed she’s the “long-suffering slave wife of Django” who is acted by Jamie Foxx. Interesting. Django will be freed during the film by a bounty hunter acted by Christoph Waltz of Water for Elephants and Basterds. The bounty hunter will even teach Django mad bounty hunting skills. There may be a historical element to this picture, but that Tarantino flare is definitely evident in the plot summary. Of course all Django really wants to do is swoop in and rescue his wife, “who winds up in a variety of unsavory places and whose travails drive the plot.” Ah ha!
We hear the big finale lands Django on a ranch called Candyland, owned by the Calvin Candie a real bad fellow as acted by Leonardo DiCaprio. Now that should be something to see!
