THE COMMUNITY Season 5 ROCKS French

If you’ve ever seen 3^rd Rock from the Sun then you should be familiar with the squinty-eyed features of French Stewart, who has landed a guests starring role on NBC’s Community. In typical Community style, Stewart doesn’t play a typical character. He’s playing himself… sort of.

Stewart, according to TV Line, actually plays a man named Vincent who makes a living as “the best French Stewart celebrity impersonator of all time.” Sounds awesome, right? In the episode, Abed becomes addicted to re-enacting his favorite movie scenes using various celebrity lookalikes from Vincent’s impersonator business. The rest of the study group won’t just let Abed go crazy, however. They join in, impersonating celebrities in order to somehow help Abed snap out of it. Now I know it’s a long shot because most of the actors aren’t exactly well known (whenever I tell people how hot Alison Brie is, they always ask, “Who?”), but it would be funny if Chevy Chase or Joel McHale posed as themselves, or at least someone should suggest it.

This could very well be the episode of Community that’s the most crammed with pop culture references. That’s an exciting prospect. This is a show that pushes itself to go to new extremes every week. This episode will be insane, and likely too much for some people to handle. Hopefully it hits that meta sweet spot it found in episodes like “Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas” and “For a Few Paintballs More”, creating a bizarre yet entirely enjoyable, and likely heartwarming, half-hour of comedy.
