VAMPIRE DIARIES Adds Original Family Mother

The Vampire Diaries CW

The Vampire Diaries has a family known as the Original family, its members including Klaus, Elijah and Rebekuh, and now another edition to the family has been cast. This new member of the family is special in that she is the mother, which should clearly mean she is Klaus and the other’s biological mom. That makes four of the nine original family who will have appeared on Vampire Diaries.

Alice Evans, known for playing young Eloise Hawking on Lost, was tapped to play Esther. She will be introduced through a series of flashbacks in episode eight of this season. Being an original vampire, she’ll be as powerful as Klaus, but she’ll have a more maternal instinct to her. Being a mother, her main priority is protecting her family. If you want to see her bring her A game to a fight, just threaten one of her children. That’ll do the trick and then you’ll be dead. Good job. You provoked a lioness.

I hope there are plans to introduce Klaus’ father sometime in the near future. His history is so interesting. This is the guy who started the war between vampires and werewolves (although Esther played her part in it). The animosity Klaus has for this man is great and I’d love to see that on screen. The writers would have to be mental to not want to bring this guy in to the thick of things. There’s so much story there, it’s like an endless mine of awesome plot developments.

About Brody Gibson

+Brody Gibson studied film in Vancouver, BC. I originally intended to become a video editor, but realized I have a passion for writing. To say I love television is a bit of an understatement.
