Brian K. Vaughan goes UNDER THE DOME for Stephen King and Showtime

When we last heard about Showtime’s adaptation of Stephen King’s 2009 novel, Under the Dome, Steven Spielberg and Stacy Snider had secured the rights and the project was searching for someone to pen the script. At long last that writer has been found in former Lost writer, Brian K. Vaughan.
Deadline broke the story of Vaughan’s involvement, which personally has me very excited. Vaughan wrote some of my favorite episodes of Lost as well as the comic book Y: The Last Man. He has an incredibly talented mind when it comes to writing, and you couldn’t ask for anyone better to tackle a Stephen King adaptation. The project will be produced by Dreamworks Television and revolves around a community in Maine, known as a great vacationing spot, that finds itself trapped in a strange force field, completely cutting everyone off from the outside world. Tensions rise and soon everyone inside the dome turn against each other. There is some serious mileage you could get from a concept like this. If the series is a hit there are many different paths you could go down that the novel doesn’t explore. Having not read the novel, I can’t really give great examples of what those alternate paths might be.
Stephen King is acting as executive producer alongside Dreamwork TV’s Justin Falvey and Darryl Frank. My fingers are crossed in the hope this turns out to be a gripping series. I’m very much in love with the concept and want to see this turn out better than anything I could possibly imagine.
