DEXTER and Michael C. Hall a Go for Season 7 and 8

Dexter Morgan’s number one rule is: Don’t get caught. The serial killer acted by Michael C. Hall on Showtime’s infectious hit drama, Dexter, may stay out of jail for a few more years. How do I know? Well, we are all ahead green for Season 7 and Season 8 of the show.
I know the news is wonderful to Dexter fans. Each season always feels way too short to this viewer. The more, the merrier.
Showtime network president David Nevins made the official announcement. When he did, Nevins cited the hard-working cast as the show’s reason for continued success. Amen there, brother. Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter should always been nominated for Emmy Awards as far as I’m concerned. There aren’t enough complex female characters like Dexter’s foster sister turned hard-nosed cop, Debra Morgan. Carpenter, who is always brilliant as Deb, is also coming soon to the set of The Good Wife and we hear her character will be Deb’s polar opposite. I can’t wait for that. But when it comes to series regulars, the colorful cast of Dexter can be everything from believably and intensely dramatic to effortlessly funny.
The show is also known for making wise choices in its guest stars. Keith Carradine was always a welcome sight as FBI Sepcial Agent Frank Lundy. Jimmy Smits hung out for most of Season 3. John Lithgow won Golden Globe and Emmy awards for his role as the Trinity Killer. Julia Stiles became an all time favorite as Lumen Pierce during the phenomenal Season 5. In the current season, the show’s sixth, Edward James Olmos, Mos Def, and Colin Hanks add to the tradition of fine guest stars.
Network president Nevins also reminded viewers how much “bigger” Season 6 is becoming. He said the creative team all share quite a vision for where the story will go in the future. Hall also signed the dotted line to continue playing Dexter for seasons 7 and 8. There really isn’t a show without him after all. Hall said he and the entire Dexter family “relish” the idea of going even deeper into the dark world of Dexter Morgan. Production for Season 7 will begin next year.
