Dexter Morgan is just your average guy, but his secrets are a little more frightening than most. Sure, he keeps blood samples hidden in the AC of his Miami apartment, but don’t we all hide things? Don’t we all have secrets? Today’s teaser trailer for the current season, which is the big number 6, reveals, set to music, the details of one man’s life.

The Showtime series must be showing off its artistic side as it puts, side by side, the mundane aspects of Dexter’s life and the frightening results of what he calls his Dark Passenger, that thing in his mind that drives him to kill. In a way this treat for Dexter fans is a lot like the show’s opening, which, in its quirky way, to its own quirky music, reveals Dex’s morning routine. That’s a series of activities any man might tackle, yet when Dexter Morgan is the one in action, everything can feel sinister.
