Hang out with Katy Perry Saturday Night

Katy Perry is returning to Saturday Night Live but you won’t hear her belting out any tunes this time because she’ll be taking over hosting duties for the evening and leaving the singing to someone else.
Perry, who just took home a special achievement award from the American Music Awards (she was honored for becoming the first woman in the history of pop music to have five No. 1 singles from one album), did the singing thing on Saturday Night Live last year when she appeared on the September 25th show. Now, Perry is venturing into new territory to host the December 10th episode of SNL. Unfortunately, she won’t be providing the musical entertainment part of the show, preferring to stick with the hosting gig for the night and letting Swedish singer/songwriter Robyn have the spotlight as musical guest.
Saturday Night Live is still going strong after all these years, but the guest hosts can occasionally be the weak link for the show. Some people are just meant to sing and then get offstage because their personality just sort of flatlines when they’re taken out of their comfort zone. Fortunately, December 10th shouldn’t offer up any worries because Perry has the attitude and comedic timing that makes her a natural fit for SNL. Now we just have to wait and see if she wears that Elmo t-shirt again.
