Neil Patrick Harris gets Becki Newton in HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER

Now that Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) is single once again, do we expect him to return to his one-night stands and tricks, or will he be driven to win Robin (Cobie Smulders) back at any cost on How I Met Your Mother? He may, at first, take some time to heal his wounds with a cornucopia of fine women, but it won’t be long before Barney finds himself the boyfriend of a new recurring character. The only question on my mind is, “Will she be as boring as Nora?”

TVLine reported Ugly Betty’s Becki Newton will join the cast as Barney’s new girlfriend, set to appear sometime in January. Already my hopes are up for Newton’s character, Quinn. Nora (Nazanin Boniadi) was a looker, but she can’t hold a candle to the blond bombshell that is Becki Newton. Yowza. And if you’ve seen her on Ugly Betty than you know she’s got serious comedy chops, something Nora was lacking. As long as she can surpass Nora in that regard, she’s okay in my books. I can already picture her standing next to Barney, and they look great together.

Now on the other hand, what does this mean for Barney and Robin and, by extension, the wedding? Newton is set to recur through out the rest of the season, which could land her in the coveted wife-of-Barney position. And how will Robin react when Barney finds yet another woman that isn’t her? Can she cope with missing out on getting back together with him?
