PIXAR’S BRAVE – The Royal Family

Pixar’s Brave is coming and many are already counting the days until they get to meet Disney’s newest princess. Want to meet and greet the fiery leading lady? We have some photos that will help you get to know Merida.

Who is Merida? “She’s your anti-princess,” said Brave co-director Mark Andrews. Merida is Scottish. She’d rather be hunting or practicing her archery skills than wearing frilly dresses. Castle-life simply doesn’t suit her.

I bet Merida and Katniss Everdeen would get along swimmingly, but they are from two different eras and continents!

Brave will hit theaters on June 22nd, 2012. Set in medieval Scotland, it stars Boardwalk Empire actress Kelly Macdonald as Princess Merida’s voice. Emma Thompson is Queen Elinor, Billy Connolly is King Fergus.

In today’s images from Empire Online, you get a good look at Merida, Lord MacGuffin voice acted by Kevin McKidd, Lord Macintosh as portrayed by Craig Ferguson and Lord Dingwall voiced by Harry Potter‘s Robbie Coltrane. Remind anyone of Braveheart? MacGuffin is huge. Macintosh has white hair. And Dingwall likes his face-paint.

There’s also a witch in the story acted by Julie Walters. But, is she a good witch or a bad witch? And what “beastly curse” has Merida unleashed upon her kingdom? I can’t wait to find out, can you? And how much do you love the princess’s hair?
