Sacha Baron Cohen UNCHAINED by Tarantino?

Will Bruno be a slave owner in Django Unchained? It looks like he will be as Sacha Baron Cohen enters the final stage of negotiations for the Quentin Tarantino spaghetti western.
With a roster that’s already overflowing with big names, it would seem like the casting machine would start to slow down but it continues to grind away as Sacha Baron Cohen becomes the latest star set to enter Tarantino’s version of the old west.
Variety brings word that Cohen is in final negotiations for a role as a gambler named Scotty, who becomes the owner of Django’s wife, Broomhilda, when he purchases her to be his “female companion.” The role is reportedly a small one but is such a pivotal part of the storyline that Tarantino was “very particular” about the actor that would bring the character to life on the big screen. I’m not sure I can picture Borat in a western so it should be interesting to see how the character is developed since Tarantino believes Cohen is the right man for the job.
Since principal photography on Django Unchained is scheduled to get started by January 2012, you’d think the casting news would start to die down but we are talking about Tarantino here so you can never tell what might happen. Considering all the high profile names that are connected to the project and the controversial storyline, the movie should pack a punch that will awe all the fans of Tarantino’s work.
Django Unchained is expected to ride into theaters on December 25, 2012.
