SHERLOCK teases Batman DARK KNIGHT RISES and THE HOBBIT?

December is all about the previews as Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows offers up a sneak peek of The Dark Knight Rises and possibly a glimpse of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. A detective, a bat, and Hobbits all at the same time. Who could resist that combo?

It’s been previously hinted that Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows would offer a preview for The Dark Knight Rises, and that information was recently confirmed by Variety film reporter Jeff Sneider on Twitter. However, Sneider’s tweet also revealed a pleasant surprise by stating that a teaser for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey might also be attached.

I’m all for previews but if Sneider is correct, that will put trailers for two high-profile films in front of the latest Sherlock Holmes adventure. It’s starting to sound like the studio doesn’t have a whole lot of faith in Robert Downey Jr having what it takes to bring in the crowd by himself. Heck, why don’t they add a new trailer for The Hunger Games just to make sure all the bases are covered?

Whether it’s lack of faith in RDJ or just a savvy marketing strategy, the theaters should be a popular place to be on December 16th. Not only is Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows offering up a look at The Dark Knight Rises, and possibly The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, but moviegoers that hit the IMAX version of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol will get to see the prologue for The Dark Knight Rises.

Is it possible to be more excited about the previews than the movie itself? Yes, I do believe it is.
