SONS OF ANARCHY To Be (Act 1) Promo

Wow! I can already tell that the season finale for Sons of Anarchy is going to suck. The new promo gives us an action-filled look at the first part, titled To Be (Act 1), but that’s the problem. It’s in two parts. Really? We get a two-part finale after that last episode? It’s torture. Spoilers ahead if you missed Burnt and Purged Away.

Okay, let’s get right to it. The provided clip has a couple of ohh and ahh moments as Jax continues to see his planned escape turn into a big pile of poo, we hear something about secrets being revealed, and someone (hidden by creative use of backlighting) gets thrown through a window. While I’m mildly interested in finding out who takes the dive through the glass, my number one focus is on Clay.

I’ll be honest and say Burnt and Purged Away sort of blew chunks. I don’t know where that storyline came from but it seemed like filler… and then the final moments. Holy crap!!! Did anyone really expect Opie to do that?

There was a time when this wouldn’t be a big deal. Main characters didn’t die. They might get banged up every now and then but nothing permanent happened. Then Lost came along, with absolutely no problem with wiping out major players. Soon after, a few others shows started saying, ‘hey, we need to shake things up and kill somebody important.’ So, on TV, as in real life, there are no guarantees. Part of me says Clay has to pull through, but another part says Sons of Anarchy would be shaken up and turned to a brand new direction if Clay went to that big roadhouse in the sky and Jax was forced to pick up the reins.
