VAMPIRE DIARIES Taps Paul Wesley Family

When casting a new character for a popular television, it might just be easier to hire in the family, as is the case for a new female role on the CW’s The Vampire Diaries. Series star, Paul Wesley, will be working much closer to his wife, Torrey DeVitto, now that she’s been tapped to play a recurring role on the hit vampire drama. This will be her second time playing a recurring character, with her first being Melissa Hastings on Pretty Little Liars.

THR broke the news of DeVitto’s casting. She will play a young doctor by the name of Mary who becomes enamored with Alaric’s (Matt Davis) regenerative powers. What doctor wouldn’t be? I can imagine she would love to study his ring and figure out how to use its power to help masses of people. It’s her obligation as a doctor, isn’t it? Although, magic isn’t exactly a science, so it would be hard for her to translate how the ring works into a usable medicine, or whatever she might be thinking. Someone should also tell her it only keeps the supernatural from killing you. Wouldn’t do much against the common cold. Perhaps she has vampire enemies and just wants the ring to protect herself. To figure out her motives we’ll just have to wait for her episodes!

DeVitto will for sure play Mary in episodes 310 and 311, with a strong probability of more episodes to follow. Here’s hoping Devitto and Wesley can keep their work relationship professional.
