WEEDS Season 8 – Showtime!

Since Season 7 of Weeds was never billed as the final season and ended on a typically crazy cliffhanger, I’m not at all surprised to announce Showtime has renewed it for an eighth season. The Botwin family will return for more hijinks and pot dealing than you can shake a stick at. The question is though, is this a good thing? I’m not so sure.

Many websites wondered if this will finally be the last season of Weeds, but there was no mention of an end date when Showtime announced the 13-episode season renewal. I’m in the camp that believes Weeds hasn’t been the same since the Botwins left Agrestic behind, plummeting in quality each year. The last two seasons in particular have been painful to get through. It leaves me wondering, do we really need another season of a show that’s a shadow of what it used to be? The show still has a loyal audience, that’s not up for dispute, but I can’t see why anyone would want to continue with what Weeds has become.

Season 8 will air sometime in 2012, and I’ll have my fingers crossed that it’s the last go around. I’ve seen way too many shows air one season too many to pretend like Weeds can magically return to its former glory. As for the fans out there that still absolutely adore the show, I’m happy for you. By all means leave a comment below about how much Weeds still rocks in your eyes.

I love the show.im glad another season is in store. Mary Louise OWNS that show, but the supportive cast is also awesome. I thought at times it was painful to watch, but I still could not help but watch. Thats a good show.

I hope your true, I can’t wait! I mean yeah its not the same and i understand the loyalty the fans have to the show, like me (Of course) but i hear you, I know what you mean.

I agree with you on most points. I do love the show and I find it hard to stop watching, but at the same time, it is almost frustrating to see the same problems and solutions crop up time and time again. I would like the series to return, and I know it is hard to bring a series out of a slump, but I believe they need to take a step back to the first two seasons and take some notes.

Weeds became my favorite show since season 1, episode 1. I happily went along with the Botwin Clan throughout their turbulence during the first three seasons. At the beginning of the fourth year, my disappointment began. Fifth one was horrendous to me and I REALLY wished that season 6 never happened!!!
However, season 7 kinda brought me back to basics; perhaps, It is because I like the setting (hey, I’m a Native New Yorker!) or because I was glad to see Helia and Dean whom reminded me of good old times ( a glance of Celia and Conrad might have helped) Also seeing Nancy starting all over as a “sales lady” at ball games was a flashback of her “soccer mom” days of drug dealing.
Either nostalgia of a good show or hope for better days ahead, I’m giving this people a new chance on season 8 ; )

Anyhow, I’ll give this people a new chance on season 8 ; )

Weeds has been an amazing show to watch. The first three seasons were great when they went thru all the troubles in agresic. Although it sucked watching everyone make Nancy her bitch the whole time but ya gotta admit she grew balls over time…basically you watch a noob soccer mom become something way bigger and better than she ever expected and it realistic to think it would take 3 seasons to do so before she snaps and burns her home in agressic…which also was a good idea because season 4 was one of my favs. I did however not like the whole esteban thing it was stupid and they could have done something else. Season five was like a crossroads that needed to happen in order to get to some great changes in pace with the show. Season 6 is a masterpeice watching the botwins go on an adcenture across america running from a drug mafia and authorities. I almost cried when i found out Doug Wilson would follow them along for this fun. And yes, the end of season six was a complete and utter masterpeice. Season 7 was a great show, even tho i wanted to punch silas in the face for being such a douche. I’m still trying to figure out what is going on with andy tho, i really feel bad but what can u do when your so close to a woman like nancy botwin? everybody knows they would probably do exactly what he is doing, holding on trying to get nancy to love him. Nancy is also the most selfish, intellegent, ignorent and addicting woman iv ever had the pleasure to watch and i really hope they just make season 8 fun and FOR THE LOVE OF GOD let Andy and Nancy be together happily and Doug Wilson becomes president. Then it would all be coshier and i would enjoy watching the seasons over and over again.
