Angelina Jolie to star is Besson Film?

Everyone has a favorite action film director. You might fancy Tony Scott for films like Top Gun, Man on Fire and Unstoppable. You might really dig Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill and Inglorious Basterds. I happen to fancy Luc Besson. For me, Leon: The Professional and The Fifth Element are total classics. Is the action visionary conjuring up something new? And does he have Angelina Jolie in mind to star? Let’s find out!

Here’s what we know so far. Deadline has recently explained that Besson is working on an as of yet untitled new film. He has written the script and will direct the picture they say is a more dramatic thriller based on true science. That description is pretty vague, but here is to hoping there is a Nikita or Colombiana vibe. Jolie has more than proven she can carry a thriller with her work in Salt and The Tourist.

Until we get more details, it is nice to know that the Besson film, The Lady, is making Oscar buzz. It is scheduled for limited release this coming February, seems to have a historical slant, and stars the beautiful Michelle Yeoh.

As for Jolie, she also has a few films on the burner. Following this Besson project, she’s got her own “historical epic” to be directed by Ridley Scott. It is about the figure, Gertrude Bell. She may also star in Maleficent, a reboot of the tale of Sleeping Beauty, a la Snow White and the Huntsman.
