Big Bang Theory Mom Returns

The Big Bang Theory CBS

For the second time this season, The Big Bang Theory is rewarding its loyal viewers by bringing back Christine Baranski as Leonard’s mom. The last time we saw her was in the fifth season premiere and she only appeared in a Skype video call. Unfortunately, her latest appearance will once again be on a computer screen, which I always hate. When you have such a great character like Beverley Hofstadter, you need to use her to the best of her ability. Baranski was nominated for twice for an Emmy because of the role and she’s reduced to a Skype call? That’s poor choice in my opinion.

Executive producer, Bill Prady, broke the news of Baranski’s return. He mentioned on his Twitter that production had begun on BBT’s 100th episode and Baranski was all the way in New York shooting her cameo for the milestone episode. It was in his tweets that he mentioned she wouldn’t physically be appearing alongside any of the main cast. This is such a let down! Leonard’s mom is at her best when she’s interacting with everyone. Whether she’s awkwardly interacting with her son, showing a strange attraction to Sheldon, or remarking on Howard and Raj’s kind of gay relationship, it’s just not the same when she’s on a computer screen.

Okay, I’m starting to calm down. I’m sure she’ll still manage to be extraordinarily funny in the small window she had to shoot her scene. She was nominated for reason after all.
