Desperate Housewives Gets Soapy For Bree
Since it’s practically a soap opera anyway (but way more purposefully funny), borrowing a hunky guy from an actual soap opera for a guest spot seems totally appropriate for a show like Desperate Housewives. All My Children’s Cameron Mathison (he played Ryan!) has taken a role on Housewives final season, and from the sounds of it he was used to the absolute best of his ability. Which is to say, he was there to have sex.
Having just finished filming all his scenes, Mathison spoke with Soaps in Depth, specifically mentioning sharing a scene or two with Marcia Cross (Bree). The two come from soap operas (Cross being from One Life to Love), giving them a sort of shared history. And wouldn’t you know it, Mathison’s character gets in bed with her! “I play one of Bree’s lovers,” Mathison said. “We have a couple of fun scenes. I really loved working with her. She is very kind and generous.” I’m sure all the male actors say that about the actress they get to fake sleep with.
Now that All My Children has come to an end, Mathison is really branching out as an actor. Besides this stint on Housewives, he’s hosted the web series, Ultimate Proposal and has filmed for a Lifetime television movie. I just hope, for his sake, he doesn’t take any more jobs on soap operas. They’re good for starting out a career, but you don’t want to end up doing them for the rest of your life.
