Game of Thrones – Behind the Battling

Season 2 of Game of Thrones will soon be upon us and HBO keeps sending goodies our way to make sure we don’t forget about the show, as if there were a chance of that happening. The latest Thrones treat takes us behind the scenes of some of the fight scenes that take place in Westeros, and expect a lot more blood to be spilled in the second season.

Fight scenes are one of those things that appear a lot easier than they really are. After all, how hard could it be? Just pick up a sword or axe and start swinging, being mindful to not poke someone’s eye out. However, the reality is slightly more detailed, with stunt supervisors, assistant stunt coordinators, sword masters, actors, and extras all involved throughout the various steps that take place to make a fight scene look believable while still keeping everyone safe. Can you imagine having the job title of sword master? How cool would that be? Awesome job and one heck of a conversation starter at parties.
