Game of Thrones for MARVEL’s Thunder God
We have known for some time now that there would indeed be a second installment to Marvel’s Thor franchise, but naming a director for the sequel has not been easy. Choosing the right creative mind should be a priority and I’ll tell you why. When Kenneth Branagh directed the first Thor starring Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman, the film raked in $448 million worldwide. It also made a high profile star out of Hemsworth, who will be among the happy heroes represented in the highly anticipated 2012 Joss Whedon film, The Avengers. Don’t forget Hemsworth was also chosen to play a major role in the upcoming Snow White and the Huntsman. His super hero franchise can only earn more money, if handled the right way.
Does Alan Taylor have the right stuff? Somebody must think so. The good word over at Deadline.com is the experienced television director is now going to be behind the lens for Thor 2, barring any unforeseen circumstances. Patty Jenkins was going to do the job previously. When she departed the project, rumors abounded that Hemsworth’s co-star, Natalie Portman, was none to pleased. Time will tell if the cast will embrace Taylor, whose directorial work you have seen in Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire and Nurse Jackie. When we learn more, you will, too!
