Go Springbreaking with Selena Gomez

Get ready to see Selena Gomez as you have never seen her before. Child actress no more, the 19-year-old is totally “excited” about going edgy for upcoming film, Spring Breakers. Hey, we warned you it might happen.

Harmony Korine, maker of controversial picture, Kids, is at it again, this time with Spring Breakers, a film about four, college-age, gal pals who pull off a robbery together during Spring Break in Florida. He was hoping to add Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens and Emma Roberts to his cast list. According to US Weekly, at least one young lady from that list has accepted.

When the girls wind up in jail, a slime ball portrayed by James Franco will bail them out, only to turn around and coerce them all to start working for him. Gomez seemed nothing but enthusiastic about getting the part. She seems neither intimidated, nor worried about attempting a grittier role than she’s even played before. Roles like this one can often be game changers for young stars. If Gomez has the acting chops, this will open up many more doors and offer many more acting opportunities. Then again, some fans don’t like to see their idols grow up too quickly. Getting too adult in a film like this could turn some people off. How do you think it’ll go? Will you be watching?

US Weekly also attached Hudgens and Roberts to the film. This means those two actresses may also have inked deals. At least Gomez isn’t in this alone. Her co-stars are also accustomed to more family family roles and comedic parts.
