Sasso Bartender back for How I Met Your Mother
Grab your boxing gloves and listen for the bell because Will Sasso is returning to CBS’s How I Met Your Mother as the always-ready-to-fight bartender, Doug.
Things are about to get exciting at MacLaren’s because TVLine brings word that Madtv’s Sasso is stepping back into the combative shoes of Doug, who we last saw getting punched by Marshall in the Season 4 episode, The Fight. The bartender is brought back into the picture when the gang celebrates New Year’s Eve at the bar, and it should be interesting to see if Doug wants to go another round with Marshall or Barney and Ted. It will hopefully turn out to be a memorable episode of HIMYM because not only does it feature the return of Doug but this will be the first time New Year’s Eve has been celebrated on the show since Season 1’s The Limo. It’s an odd absence because the chaos associated with New Year’s Eve revelry fits Barney like a glove so it would seem like there’s no shortage of ideas when it comes to holiday hilarity.
Sasso makes his return to How I Met Your Mother when the show returns from hiatus on January 2, 2012, and executive producer Carter Bays reveals that the reappearance of Doug was simply a matter of time, saying that the hot-headed bartender was always intended to come back and they just needed something good for his return.
