NCIS Brings Back Its Muse?

NCIS CBS

It’s very rare these days for deceased characters to stay deceased, and NCIS isn’t helping matters by apparently bringing back long time recurring character, Mike Franks (Muse Watson), despite dying last season. As fans of the show know, while he was pretty much destined to succumb to his cancer, Franks became a victim of the “Port-to-Port Killer”. Apparently the death didn’t take, as Watson is set for the series’ 200th episode.

Watson announced the return via his Twitter, saying, “Just got my script for the 200 episode of NCIS. It is a great script. Gary [Glasberg] done good…. then i got an e-mail from Mark [Harmon] welcoming me back.” If you’ve got the script, couldn’t you have at least let slip how you’re going to be back? The obvious answer is a flashback, but that’s so boring. If you’re going to bring him back, bring him back! It would be such a twist to reveal he’s still alive somehow. But that’s wishful thinking.

From what we know of the episode so far, in which lots of past characters will reappear, heavily suggests flashbacks, so that makes me sad. I’ll cry when no one’s looking. Other characters expected to return for the 200th episode are Gibbs’s late wife Shannon (Darby Stanchfield) and daughter Kelly. Here’s an idea: let’s have all the dead characters appear to Gibbs as ghosts, similar to A Christmas Carol. That would just be nuts! And totally illogical. I like it.
