New John Carter of Mars Looks via Japan
Get ready to sample the new international trailer of Disney’s John Carter of Mars. If you like action and science fiction, you won’t want to miss this.
Every hero has an origin and this trailer, much of which is in Japanese, reveals that of John Carter. The human war hero understandably begins his incredible adventure where most of us do; on earth. If he appears at all super heroic in the trailer, then there is a simple explanation for that. There is less gravity on Mars, allowing an Earthing to jump great heights and distances with very little effort. The inhabitants of Barsoom, or the red planet we humans call Mars, were born there and are acclimatized to the low gravity, meaning they can’t do the same remarkable things.
It’s a good thing Carter gets transported to Barsoom because the people on the planet are locked in turmoil. They need a hero. If you need a hero, mark your calendars for the March 9, 2012 release date.
Andrew Stanton directs John Carter of Mars and based upon this trailer, the picture looks at least partly like an origin story. That’s the case with so many first films. Do you think there could be sequels? Certainly there is enough material to draw from. Edgar Rice Burroughs, creator of the character, penned numerous John Carter comics and short stories. Believe it or not, this isn’t even the first time the character has gotten his own movie. Antonio Sabàto, Jr. acted as the hero in the 2009 film, Princess of Mars.
I have a feeling this one, starring Taylor Kitsch will be more epic! Lynn Collins, Samantha Morton, Mark Strong, Ciaran Hinds, Dominic West, James Purefoy, Polly Walker, Bryan Cranston, Thomas Hayden Church, and Willem Dafoe also star in John Carter of Mars.
