Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart FX with Wolf Pack
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 1 arrived at theaters almost a month ago but there’s still plenty of behind-the-scenes action to share, especially when it comes to using computer graphics to bring the wolf pack to life, and the following video shows some of the work that went into bringing an important scene to the big screen.
While Edward and Bella are the undisputed stars of the series, Jacob and the rest of the wolf pack have played an important part in the Twilight storyline, with the wolves getting more screen time as the story unfolds. One of the key scenes in Breaking Dawn, Part 1 involves the wolf pack squaring off against Jacob in wolf form at a lumber yard. Although not everyone was thrilled with the concept of the pack talking to each other while in wolf form, it’s an important scene that required the FX team to pull out all the stops because the wolves aren’t sharing time with anyone else at this point in the film. Everything had to be perfect because all eyes were on the furry characters and the clip below shows how some of the CGI magic was performed.
Seeing some of the shots transition from cartoon-looking wolves to realistic wolves shows off a lot of talent that probably isn’t considered once moviegoers get wrapped up in the story because CGI is one of those things people only seem to notice when it’s done poorly.
