Sherlock Season 2 Preview

Sherlock BBC

A new preview for Sherlock’s second season/series (whichever you want to call it) could be just what the doctor ordered during this holiday season. There’s something magical about watching Sherlock Holmes and John Watson banter back and fourth with each other, whether it’s the modernized BBC version or the film franchise starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law. It makes me sad Steven Moffat’s Sherlock is so short, but it’s also good enough that I can forgive and just enjoy it for the small amount of time that it airs. Let’s take a closer look at the preview, shall we?

The teaser was found on the Guardian website and it perfectly embodies the feeling of Sherlock Holmes. Aside from a rather bizarre moment with an oncoming bus (does it not appear as though Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Watson (Martin Freeman) just stop in front of it?) the first real scene we get with our two heroes involves Holmes telling Watson to punch him. The dialogue between the two is exactly what you’d expect from these two odd friends, and that it culminated in them both actually punching each other is the cherry on top.

Interestingly, while the first episode of the series is “A Scandal in Belgravia” the teaser ends with Holmes referencing a “monstrous hound”, seemingly putting that scene in “The Hounds of the Baskervilles”. I suppose that means the teaser is for the series as a whole and not just the first episode. It doesn’t matter either way because I’m excited regardless of the order the episodes air!
