SHOWTIME Lands Sabretooth for RAY DONOVAN

Ray Donovan Showtime

Just when you think your day couldn’t get any worse, Showtime goes and turns everything around with the announcement Liev Schreiber has been cast as the lead in an upcoming drama pilot. Best. Day. Ever. I have quite a large soft spot for Schreiber, tending to like most of his performances. Giving the man his own show seems like a no brainer to me and I’m wondering why this hasn’t happened sooner.

According to EW.com, the project is called Ray Donovan, which I’m assuming is the name of Schreiber’s character. Taking place in Los Angeles, Schreiber plays a professional “fixer” for the rich and famous, which could mean a lot of different things. The first thing that comes to mind is a man who gets rid of unwanted publicity, bribing people to change their stories and destroying evidence. An interesting premise for a television show, and something that I’ve seen many times in movies. Those usually involve the “fixer” discovering something he has a problem with and refuses to hide it. But wouldn’t it also be fun if he were just a plumber for famous people? That would be different. I kind of hope it uses real celebrities, but since it’s a drama that won’t likely happen.

Ray Donovan comes from Southland’s Ann Biderman, who will be acting as executive producer along with Mark Gordon. This will mark Schreiber’s first television role since his brief stint on CSI, where he played the replacement of Gil Grissom.
