THE CABIN IN THE WOODS sighting!
You know Joss Whedon is cool. You’ll soon be thinking the same about Drew Goddard. You know Chris Hemsworth is godlike. And you know Twilight Saga: Eclipse actress Jodelle Ferland is an exciting up and comer. So, what do you get when you mix all four creative minds? You get The Cabin in the Woods! If you’re already familiar, then we have a juicy update. If you don’t know a lick about the upcoming horror flick, sure to be full of twists, then read on to get seriously schooled.
Ain’t It Cool News was given the fantastic honor of premiering the film’s poster. It looks sharp and gives a whole new dimension to the word “twist”. This drives home the clever tagline: You THINK you know the story. See, given the premise, many will think the film is predictable. In the Lionsgate picture, a bunch of five friends journey to a cabin in the woods, pretty much in the middle of no where, then all hell breaks loose. We have seen that sort of thing before, yet the synopsis promises, “a mind blowing horror film that turns the genre inside out.” Joss Whedon fans know the director can deliver. In fact, we could have a new cult classic on our hands. So, where do the other folks come in?
Well Hemsworth is Thor. He’s also Snow White’s Huntsman, and one day I hope to marry him. I’m only partly kidding there, folks. Haha. Once upon a time, we had really only gawked at his stacked physique in the small role of Kale in A Perfect Getaway; a twisty thriller in its own right, and watched as his blue eyes sparkled in the opening to J.J. Abrams’ reboot of Star Trek. He acts in Cabin in the Woods, and, well, it’ll be fun to see him not playing an out of this world hero type.
Ferland is Bree Tanner to Twilight fans. She was quite scary in horror flick Case 39. Her distinct look and great personality make her one of Boomtron’s favorite celebs. She acts in Cabin, too. Believe it or not, she gave us her insight into the project. Check out the Boomtron interview now.
This leaves Drew Goddard. Who is he? Goddard wrote for both the cult TV series Buffy and Angel. He also worked with J.J. Abrams on Alias and Lost. That’s pretty impressive, but just wait until we get closer to Spielberg’s ROBOPOCALYPSE. Goddard wrote the script for that one, and he helped Joss pen the script for Cabin the Woods. I’m ready to enter the woods. How about you? It’s coming April 13th!
