The Doctor, The Widow & the Wardrobe – Doctor Who Christmas teaser!

What would Christmas be without Doctor Who? At long last, after months of waiting, we’ve received a promo video for the upcoming Christmas special, “The Doctor, the Widow and the Wardrobe”. And I must say, it boasts of wonderful things to come. All you have to see is that little boy (Maurice Cole) climbing in to that mysterious blue box (no, it’s not the TARDIS, it’s a giant Christmas gift) to feel a sense of wonder that only Doctor Who can give you. What say we dive in and pick this bad boy apart? Geronimo!

Right, so I’ve already mentioned the blue gift/box. What I left out is that the box leads to (or perhaps just happens to carry one inside of it) a forest in the dead of winter. If the title of the special wasn’t enough, this should definitely recall memories of C.S. Lewis’s The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Unlike Lewis’s children’s book, this will be light on the Christian metaphors and heavy on the science fiction. Not only is there something sinister lurking in the weird forest, but alien spaceships are rocketing toward the planet. There’s even an explosion! Forget everything else; I just want to see things get blown up (as I’m typing this, I’m saying it all in a British accent. No big deal).

The special is set to air Christmas Day, which as always is December 25. I’m sure it will be a wild ride, leaving you at the edge of your seat, so tune in if you dare.
