The view of Abrams’ ALCATRAZ

Alcatraz Fox

Take a good, hard look at this delightfully grim teaser art for J.J. Abrams’ Alcatraz. It gives you a solid idea of how the show will feel when it finally airs Jan. 16. The gray color palette and the stone text are enough to put images of the once horrifying Alcatraz prison in your mind. Of course, not everything will be dark and sad like this poster; this is just to pique our interest. An unnecessary approach as my interest piqued at the mention of Abrams.

EW.com had first dibs on the poster for the series, which stars Sarah Jones, Sam Neill and Jorge Garcia, who has already appeared on many of Abrams shows, such as Lost and Fringe. Alcatraz will follow Rebecca Madsen (Jones) as she discovers an inmate of Alcatraz who died decades ago committed recent a homicide case. Enlisting the help of Alcatraz expert Diego Soto (Garcia), she learns Jack Sylvane (Jeffrey Pierce) is alive and hasn’t aged a day. To make things more complicated, he won’t be the first seemingly dead prisoner to reappear in the present, causing Diego and Madsen to team up with the enigmatic agent Emerson Hauser (Neill).

The series will have a two-hour premiere and my fingers will be crossed it’s not as big a disappointment as this years Person of Interest turned out to be. It also had a great concept, but its been spoiled by an over reliance on procedural clichés and Jim Caviezel’s poor acting. I have high hopes for Alcatraz, but I don’t think I could handle being hurt again.
