Vampire Diaries Duo Ian Somerhalder, Nina Dobrev, and GOSSIP Girl Blake Lively – CW People’s Nod

The Vampire Diaries Gossip Girl CW

The CW is getting lots of love from the People’s Choice Awards, with several of its series and talent getting nominations for the 2012 awards. I’ll get down to listing all the nominees off in a second, but if you don’t feel like reading a brick of text, there’s a video embedded below from the CW that will tell you everything you need to know about what shows and which actors/actresses gave their all this past year.

First off, let’s talk acting. For best actor, there was only one guy necessary for the category: The Vampire Diaries’ Ian Somerhalder. It’s no secret that I’m a big Damon fan, so whenever Somerhalder is acknowledged for his work on the show I get a little giddy. There’s a bit more competition for best actress, with both Nina Dobrev (Vampire Diaries) and Blake Lively (Gossip Girl) getting the nod. This one’s harder for me to choose, but I have to go with Lively. My reason: she’s dating Ryan Reynolds and I actually saw her walking around Vancouver with him the other day. I’ve never seen Dobrev. Is my logic strange? Yes, but that’s okay.

Moving on to best drama, we have the long running Supernatural up against the intense and fresh Vampire Diaries. I have to give this to Diaries. Supernatural does have seniority, but it’s lost its edge in recent years. Killing Bobby Singer isn’t enough in my books. As for best new drama, the CW has three shows in this category! Ringer, The Secret Cricle and Hart of Dixie all were nominated, but they’re going up against the likes of Once Upon a Time and Person of Interest, both of which have been grabbing huge numbers of viewers.
