Alternative GREY’S ANATOMY – Watch 11 Minutes of “If/Then”

ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy will be exploring a common television trope in the upcoming episode, “If/Then”: the alternate reality episode! Because they are so kind, ABC has given us a chance to view the first 11 minutes of the episode. If you’re a fan of extended sneak peeks (which I’m not as I prefer to watching everything in one go) then this is perfect for you in everyway. It’ll give you enough to pique your interest and then leave you hanging just as things really get rolling. And lucky you, the video is embedded down below. The episode begins with Meredith looking after her adopted child, her voiceover going to that magical dream place of “What if?” She begins to wonder, as she puts her child to bed, how life would be different if even the smallest of things changed, or if you made a different choice somewhere along the lines. She continues to ponder these questions as she rests her head on her pillow and drifts to sleep. Here’s where we shift into the alternate Grey’s Anatomy: through Meredith’s dreams.

Almost immediately you can feel the differences. For one thing, Meredith dresses bizarrely. That outfit just doesn’t work for her. The big difference we see, and the change that started this second world, is Meredith’s mother. She is perfectly healthy and functioning, no Alzheimer’s. From hereon out, the changes are all over the place. It would be pointless to try and list them all. I suggest you just watch the sneak peek, and the full episode when it airs, and try to find all the differences.
