American Horror Story 2 – The Possibilities
Last week I talked about the future of FX’s American Horror Story when the series creator, Ryan Murphy, revealed the second season would feature a brand new cast and setting. A clue was allegedly discoverable in the penultimate episode of Season 1, “Birth,” that would spoil where Season 2 would take place. Naturally the more rabid of the AHS fans have been examining every frame of that episode under a microscope looking for anything that could be considered a clue. Needless to say there are now several theories on the Internet. Let’s look at a few.
The Insider had a rather impressive list of theories for the future setting. With the exception of Roanoke, which is a stretch (and way too obvious a choice to be seriously considered), all them could work on some level. My favorite is the first theory. In the 1984 opening of “Birth,” Constance is watching Newhart, which took place at an inn in Vermont. In the history of horror, inns/hotels/motels have been ideal locations for all kinds of scary stuff. I can definitely see a Psycho-like situation going down in Vermont.
Other locations include: Florida, based on the frequent mention of Vivien’s sister who lives in the state; a prison, which came from Billie Dean Howard’s explanation that “places like prisons and asylums” are prime real estate for evil; and this last one is either someone really reaching or a stroke of genius. Two doctors who treat Vivien, Dr. Marchesi and Dr. Hall, when combined make Marchesi Hall, which is located in St. Paul’s Cathedral in London, England.
