Cinemax’s STRIKE BACK Season 2 Scores Female Lead in Rhona Mitra?

Rhona Mitra Strike Back Cinemax

There’s a new top dog in the house as Rhona Mitra joins Season 2 of Cinemax’s action drama, Strike Back, as the new head of Section 20.

If you watched the first season of Strike Back, then you know things didn’t end well for team leader Colonel Eleanor Grant (Amanda Mealing). Now, Deadline brings word that Mitra, who has appeared in shows such as Nip/Tuck and The Gates, will be stepping in to fill the void that was left by the fallen leader of Section 20 as Captain Rachel Dalton of the British military, who is described as “beautiful, cunning and ultimately ruthless.” She is one of the good guys, right?

Season 1 of Strike Back, known as Strike Back: Project Dawn in the UK, revolved around a charismatic former U.S. Special Forces operative (Sullivan Stapleton) that joins a stealth British military unit after a resourceful international terrorist group plots a major attack. Season 2 is expected to begin filming soon in South Africa.

I’ve only seen Mitra as vampire Claire Radcliff on ABC’s failed series, The Glades, but it was enough to show that she has what it takes to portray the character. Strike Back kind of flew under my radar when it made its debut on Cinemax but I might have to look into it now.
