Doctor Who Boyfriend Goes on a Star Trek

Doctor Who, Star Trek, J.J. Abrams Noel Clarke

Okay BBC fans, get ready to see one series regular headed to the final frontier. He is actor and director Noel Clarke and he portrayed Mickey Smith the boyfriend of the Ninth and Tenth Doctor’s companion, Rose Tyler, for several years. Now he’ll have to get his bearings on a star ship no doubt as he joins the megawatt J.J. Abrams/ Paramount Picture, Star Trek 2. Of course we keep referring to the sequel that way because there is no official groovy subtitle yet, like say Ghost Protocol or Game of Shadows.

Clarke joins the ranks of Alice Eve and Peter Weller, two other actors recently added to Star Trek 2‘s cast list. We do know the big bang of a sequel will premier May 17, 2013. So, it is safe to say things are still developing. We can’t say much about Clarke’s role, except that Variety has heard his character will have a wife and child; a young daughter, in fact.

Abrams, of Lost and Person of Interest, returns to direct the sequel. The script was penned by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci and Damon Lindelof. Those four will also produce, along with Bryan Burk and David Ellison through Bad Robot and Skydance Productions. When we know more, you’ll be the first to hear about it.
