Les Mis with Taylor Swift and Amanda Seyfried?
Has there ever been a more epic rivalry than the one between LES MISERABLES leading lasses, Cosette and Eponine? Uma Thurman versus Daryl Hannah in Kill Bill Volume 2 comes to mind, but that’s an entirely different genre.
Les Mis began as a 1862 French novel by author, Victor Hugo, but is probably best known as the Claude-Michel Schönberg musical. It follows a 19th century factory worker turned prostitute called Fantine, who, on her death bed, entrusts her child, Cosette, to Jean Valjean, a former convict, on the run from the notorious policeman, Javert. Valjean raises Cosette as his own daughter and as she grows up, she falls for Marius, the freedom fighter who is also the love of Eponine’s life. Never mind that Eponine’s parents are the innkeepers who once took very poor care of Cosette on Fantine’s behalf before Valjean could rescue her.
The hottest Les Mis news is that Tom Hooper is out to make a new film of that same name. Many A-listers have been connected to the project, but are Taylor Swift and Amanda Seyfried one step closer to winning lead roles?
We reported that actresses Lea Michele, Scarlett Johansson, and Evan Rachel Wood were being considered for the iconic role of Eponine. Well, according to TwitchFilm online, Taylor Swift has been offered the part! Will she accept? Can she handle such a dramatic role? Time will tell!
The same site also announced that Amanda Seyfried of Red Riding Hood and In Time had been offered the starring role as Cosette. This must mean that Seyfried can sing! Twitch says she has opera training. Wow. Oops. Did I just reveal that I never saw her work in Mama Mia? I better add it to my Netflix queue soon…
If these actresses accept their roles, they’ll join Hugh Jackman, Helena Bonham Carter, Russell Crowe, Sacha Baron Cohen and Anne Hathaway on the silver screen.
